SUMMARY:Railways in Ireland: Building Resilience in Railway Systems and Infrastructure
DESCRIPTION:Railways in Ireland: Building Resilience in Railway Systems and Infrastructure\nRailEI Technical Seminar\n\n\nRailEI held its first full day technical seminar in Ireland in May 2024 which was a resounding success. We are therefore planning a return visit and our next Seminar will take place in Dublin this October. \nWhilst the ambition for rail across the island of Ireland remains buoyant\, the need for resiliency within all aspects of the current system is paramount. This Seminar will examine resiliency across all aspects of the operational railway – from the effects of climate change on existing infrastructure through to improved technological innovations helping to provide operational resiliency with ever increasing passenger demand.\nYou will hear from major stakeholders as they describe current and future plans for increasing the resiliency of the network\, with insights into ongoing projects\, plant improvements\, technology and resources. \n\n\n\n\nThis Seminar will include opportunities for delegate interaction and participation\, offering facilitated discussions and Q&As. \nReady to be part of the conversation? Book now to advance your knowledge and understanding. \n\n\nThis event contributes to CPD. \nRegistration with exhibitors from 08:30 for a 09:30 start. \nMembers £35/€40   Non-members £57/€65 \nSupported by Translink and Iarnród Éireann/Irish Rail \nBOOK YOUR SPACE HERE \n  \n

SUMMARY:Track Renewals: Balancing Cost\, Risk and Value
DESCRIPTION:Track Renewals: Balancing Cost\, Risk and Value\nRailEI Technical Seminar\nIn November 2025\, the Railway Engineering Institution held a Technical Seminar at the University of Birmingham focused on the affordability of Track Renewals. Later this year\, we will be running a similarly themed Seminar looking at the progress that has been made in terms of reducing cost\, increasing efficiency and embedding innovation whilst maintaining safety and quality. \nYou will hear about the progress Network Rail’s Track Community of Practice has made in the intervening 12 months with various initiatives\, including contributions from the Design community. There will also be contributions from Transport for London and High Speed1. \nAs part of the day\, delegates will have the opportunity to attend Enquiry Workshops to discuss pertinent issues and make proposals which may be taken forward to achieve further efficiencies \nThis Seminar will include opportunities for delegate interaction and participation\, offering facilitated discussions and Q&As. \nReady to be part of the conversation? Book soon to advance your knowledge and understanding of the challenges facing track renewals. \nThis event contributes to CPD. \nRegistration with exhibitors from 08:30 for a 09:30 start. \nMembers £97   Non-members £177   Students £20 \nBOOK YOUR SPACE HERE \n

SUMMARY:Major Projects and Programmes: Multidisciplinary Challenges and Engineering Judgement
DESCRIPTION:Major Projects and Programmes: Multidisciplinary Challenges and Engineering Judgement\nRailEI Technical Seminar\nMajor Projects and Programmes: Multidisciplinary Challenges and Engineering Judgement explores how large scale rail developments bring together civil\, electrical\, signalling\, operations and environmental teams under one programme. The seminar examines the competing pressures that arise when technical requirements\, budget constraints\, safety standards and stakeholder demands pull in different directions. It focuses on where engineering judgement becomes critical: making decisions with incomplete data\, balancing risk versus delivery timelines and integrating disciplines so the system works as a whole\, not just as separate parts. \nThrough case studies of complex rail upgrades and new builds\, speakers will unpack how experienced engineers navigate uncertainty\, challenging assumptions\, and choose the “least wrong” path when no perfect solution exists. \nThis Seminar will include opportunities for delegate interaction and participation\, offering facilitated discussions and Q&As. \nReady to be part of the conversation? Book now to advance your knowledge and understanding of the challenges facing track renewals. \nThis event contributes to CPD. \nRegistration with exhibitors from 08:30 for a 09:00 start. \nMembers £115   Non-members £215   Students £30 \nBOOK YOUR SPACE HERE
