SUMMARY:Electrification: Into the future
DESCRIPTION:Electrification: Into the future\nPWI Technical Seminar\nTHIS EVENT IS NOW FULLY BOOKED \nMembers £85   Non-members £150   Students £10 \nSynopsis: The UK Government has committed to Net Zero by 2050. To achieve this the railway must remove all fossil fuel powered trains from the network. Though there is much talk of hydrogen and battery power\, their limitations mean fixed electrification is currently the only credible solution for high speed and heavy freight trains. As we look to the future\, the essential modal shift of freight from road to rail will only increase this demand. Significant further electrification of the UK rail network is needed – now. \nThis conference will welcome speakers who are leading the change\, updating delegates on current proposals for new electrification – including developments in the third rail network\, emerging technical developments\, and those already implemented. The combined impact of more electrification and modal shift on the network’s electricity demand – and how that demand can be met – will also be explored. Speakers will examine system reliability and business benefits\, providing essential knowledge to engineers\, operators\, and project managers from across our industry. \n
