Improved Management of Infrastructure and Operations Using AI
14/01/2025 @ 16:30 - 18:00

Tim Flower, Konux GmbH
Lancaster, Barrow & Carlisle Section in-person meeting
In this presentation Tim Flower describes and explains how the application of KONUX software to the UK rail network makes smarter, data-driven decisions possible.
KONUX Switch provides predictive maintenance for rail switches. It uses advanced machine learning to monitor the health of these critical assets, enabling rail operators to reduce delays, extend the lifespan of infrastructure, and improve network reliability.
KONUX Traffic is a decision support solution for rail traffic operators. By utilising train movement data and algorithms based on neural networks, it helps identify and address bottlenecks, improve punctuality, and optimize capacity utilization without adding new infrastructure. In case of disruptions, the solution offers recovery strategies to minimise network-wide impacts.
Both software products maximise the advantages provided by artificial intelligence (AI) and the interconnection of devices networked together in industrial applications (the ‘Industrial Internet of Things’) to optimise the planning of railway operations and railway maintenance, addressing key challenges in their respective areas.
Meeting in-person from 16:00 for a 16:30 start.
Transport will be provided from Carlisle Station main entrance at 16:00, returning for 18:00 (approximately) after the meeting courtesy of Network Rail.
If you are a PWI member, please book your space if would like this event to be automatically recorded in your CPD portfolio.
