Powering Success: Electrification and Building the Future
PWI Technical Seminar
The cancellation of HS2 Phase 2 has undoubtedly unsettled the UK railway industry, and the uncertainty around the Government’s Network North proposals raises questions over the availability of funding for UK railway investment. However, electrification of both the Midland Mainline and the TransPennine routes is well underway, and existing electrification assets (which power around 80% of UK rail vehicle-km) must be maintained, renewed, and enhanced to cope with climate change and traffic growth. The level of Network Rail funding agreed for 2024-2029 (CP7) makes using technology to reduce equipment lifecycle costs ever more critical.
This conference welcomes expert speakers from a range of Electrification disciplines and organisations, covering third and fourth rail systems, power and distribution, and overhead line. They will focus on technologies that are already enabling cost reduction and will highlight good practice across the UK and continental Europe.
Building on previous event experience, a revised conference format will increase delegate interaction and participation, offering facilitated discussions and greater opportunity for Q&A.
