UGMS – Developments in the use of Unattended Geometry Measurement Systems
14/05/2025 @ 17:00 - 18:00

Steve Pearson, Technical Authority, Network Rail
West of England Section hybrid meeting
The use of in service trains to carry out infrastructure monitoring present an opportunity to change the way that track is measured and maintained using high frequency UGMS recordings. Equipment specified as part of new train fleets has increased the availability of this data in the UK, but how could we use this data and what benefits can be unlocked? The presentation examines recent developments including the status of fitments on the Great Western Mainline and elsewhere, and looks to a UGMS data driven future.
