Working together to make track renewals affordable
PWI Technical Seminar
In its 2023-24 annual report “Cost benchmarking of Network Rail’s maintenance and renewals expenditure” the ORR concluded the average annual increase in unit costs of conventional track renewals is 3% per year since 2014-15 (in real terms). These figures consider factors such as track length and extent of electrification but not all project specific factors.
Network Rail is not alone in the challenge to deliver track renewals at an affordable cost. Other railway administrations around the world face similar challenges.
In this Seminar we will hear about Network Rail’s recently formed “Track Community of Practice”, a group of relevant stakeholders who have come together to understand their cost drivers and what can be done to achieve efficiency in delivery. Workstreams from within this community will share details of their action plans and intent.
The Seminar will include opportunities for delegate interaction and participation, offering facilitated discussions and Q&A.
