Overview

The Churnet Valley Railway offers a nostalgic steam train ride through Staffordshire’s hidden valley, and into the Staffordshire Moorlands on the outskirts of the Peak District. Located near the market town of Leek, this West Midlands attraction is within easy reach of Cheshire and Derbyshire for those looking for a journey into the past through beautiful scenery.

Churnet Valley Railway

More than just a railway

The Churnet Valley Railway takes you on a journey back to the classic days of railway travel on a rural line that passes through beautiful countryside known as Staffordshire’s “Little Switzerland”.

Our picturesque stations offer lots of interest with a complete range of visitor facilities, and there’s plenty more to see and enjoy along the way.

In addition to the 11 mile return journey along the valley between Kinglsey & Froghall station and Leekbrook, there’s a taste of contrasting moorland scenery on the 9 mile round trip along the Cauldon branch to Ipstones Loop.

With a programme of special events, dining dates, venue hire and education facilities, we think you will agree that we are more than just a railway!
