1959 -2022

Willie Burns passed away on 2 September 2022, after a long illness. Willie was a long-serving Contractor’s Engineering Manager, with Babcock Rail.

Willie started his career with ScotRail and Babcock Rail with a career which spanned more than 45 years. He started his career as a Project Engineer before moving through a range of management positions.

He was a very valued member of the Babcock Rail team and respected across the wider rail community and will be sorely missed.

Willie joined the PWI in 1989 as an Associate Fellow and moved on to a Fellow during his career.

His funeral took place at Park Parish Church, Ardrossan on 15 September 2022.
