Ahead of speaking at our upcoming Making a Point: Developments in S&C Design, Installation and Maintenance Seminar, we spoke with Sin Sin Hsu, Regional Engineer at Network Rail, about her career in the rail industry.
How did you start your career in the rail industry?
I took a job as a railway consultant undertaking vehicle dynamics simulations after leaving a Research Assistant role at a University.
Tell us a little about your career experiences to date.
I’ve enjoyed every day in the rail industry; every day is a learning day, and it’s a big family.
What does an average day look like for you?
Interesting – meeting new people every day and helping frontline colleagues with their difficult roles.
Why did you want to present at a RailEI technical seminar?
To share my learnings.
What’s the best bit of advice you have for someone looking to work in the rail industry?
It’s a rewarding industry, but you need to find a mentor.
What are some of the biggest challenges of your current role?
Trying to do more with less money and the difficulty of moving forward with the use of technology.
