All at the PWI are saddened by the tragic train collision near Llanbrynmair in Central Wales on 21 October in which a man died. Our thoughts are with his family and friends, and with all the passengers and railway people who have been injured or affected by the incident.

Our Institution is committed to continuous improvement in the safety of railway systems and, once the investigation into what happened is completed, we will advise our Members of the lessons to be learnt and how, in the future, the hazards and risks associated with incidents of this type can be eliminated or greatly reduced.
