Name: Tony McKenna
Role: Senior Site Manager
Company: Babcock Rail
Level of Professional Registration: EngTech
Tony McKenna, EngTech MPWI, has been in the rail industry for 35 years and recently chose to pursue professional registration to support his continued development and inspire others to do the same. Read on to hear about Tony’s journey.
What motivated you to pursue professional registration?
I decided to get professionally registered for my personal development. I’d also been encouraged by someone I respect and who has been very much involved with the PWI for much of his time in the rail industry.
How did you find the application process?
At first, the application looks daunting. However, once I spoke to my Sponsor about it and talked through a few things, it was fairly straightforward, and my Sponsor’s guidance and support were first-class.
How do you see EngTech recognition supporting your career?
Hopefully, being professionally recognised will help me further in my career within the rail industry. It is also beneficial to my company that they can say to clients that they have professionally registered staff working for them within their organisation.
I also hope that some of my colleagues who see I have gained EngTech with the PWI will be encouraged to do the same, and they know that I’m there to support them with their own application.
Thank you to Tony for sharing his story. If you’re interested in Professional Registration, find out how the PWI can support you on your journey.
