Join us for an engaging talk as a seasoned British Permanent Way Engineer Dave McPherson shares his unique experiences working in Canada. This session will delve into the fascinating contrasts between the UK and Canada in railway engineering, offering insights into the challenges and opportunities of adapting to a different culture, work environment, and scale of operations.
From navigating the vast geographical expanse and extreme climates of Canada to embracing distinct engineering practices and cultural approaches to problem-solving, this talk provides a firsthand account of what it takes to succeed in a new railway landscape. Attendees will also hear about the differences in project scale, resource management, and stakeholder collaboration across borders.
This will be followed by the Notts and Derby Section 2025 AGM.
