The replacement of Prudhoe Street Junction on the Tyne and Wear Metro system

Nexus, the public body which owns Metro, is currently halfway through a series of multi-million-pound projects to replace or upgrade tracks throughout the 58km of dual-track infrastructure it directly maintains. The replacement of Prudhoe St Junction underneath the city of Newcastle upon Tyne is part of that story. This presentation provides an overview of the switch and crossing renewal works and how SmartTrax Rail overcome some of the complex difficulties of working in sub surface tunnels.
