CODES – development of dynamic adjustable height electrification
April 16 @ 13:00 - 14:00

Noel Dolphin, Head of UK Projects, Furrer+Frey
West of England Section hybrid meeting
Reducing infrastructure intervention costs when building electrification is a key to making it more efficient. The industry has already achieved a step change in cost reductions over the past 10 years. To continue reducing costs, the rules will need to be challenged and proposed modifications tested. CODES was developed at the Global Centre of Rail Excellence (GCRE) to enable future train/electrification interface testing. Testing affordably in a controlled environment: how far can the industry push the rules? CODES allows dynamic height adjustment to replicate planned electrification on the real rail network and to be easily and safely tested. The presentation focuses on how the system was designed, built and deployed at GCRE.
Meeting in person from 12:45 for light refreshments courtesy of RailEI for a 13:00 start for all.
