The Project aim was to remove several bottlenecks between Stockport and Sheffield to allow passenger trains to overtake slower freight trains along the line. A new signalling
scheme was required to improve efficiency and resilience.
From Design & Planning to Construction & Commissioning, many challenges were faced and overcome. Project also introduced the UKs first Alstom SmartIO signalling interlocking.
New track layouts, installed over earthworks and existing / new structures, whilst minimising the existing operational railway and environmental impacts.
Meeting in-person from 18:00 for a 18:30 start. Light refreshments available.
