Hopetown Darlington Site Visit

RailEI Yorkshire and North East Sections “Hopetown Darlington Site Visit”

In combination with recent RailEI presentations to Yorkshire and North Eastern Sections on “Hopetown Darlington – New track for a new home”

Site visit to the new sidings and network connection at Hopetown Darlington, is arranged for Tuesday 8th September 2026.

There are two time slots 15.00 and 18.00, each is expected to take approximately 2 hours.

The tour will include the ~1km of track and S&C laid over the last 2 years, together with access to Darlington Locomotive Works (A1 Steam Trust) and Darlington Railway Preservation Society sheds.

A round trip on a Wickham Trolley is also planned.

Boots and Hi Vis Vest required.

Meeting point is A1 Steam Trust, Bonomi Way, 1.5 miles from ECML Darlington Bank Top, and 500m walk from North Road Station.

Parking is available at the A1 Steam Trust [by prior arrangement] ///taker.fight.calms

You can take the opportunity to combine this with a visit to the adjacent Hopetown Museum, (an award-winning railway themed visitor attraction).
Direct access from Hopetown Museum ‘viewing gallery’ can be arranged for the 15.00 slot [by prior arrangement]
