Probabilistic Gauging is the latest technique in the quest to calculate ‘true’ clearances between trains and the infrastructure and minimise the cost of upgrading and maintaining railway infrastructure without compromising train size. In the presentation, David will describe the theory of probabilistic gauging and the 20-year journey from concept to delivery of this process, and its implementation.
