Restoring rail links to the Borders
03/12/2024 @ 16:30 - 18:30

Peter Heubeck, Fellow, PWI
North East Section in person meeting
The 2015 project to reopen the railway from Edinburgh to the Borders (Galashiels) was a great example of a complex project delivered quickly and cost-effectively. The passenger usage figures have been simply staggering since its reopening, way beyond expectations and any predicative forecasts. Just how was this achieved and whether the railway will be extended further south towards Carlisle will be covered by Peter.
