Why PVT is not the MVP – Challenging the Principle of Virtual Transition

June 11 @ 13:00 - 14:00

Constantin Ciobanu, Associate, Transportation, Rail, AECOM

West of England Section hybrid meeting

Constantin will present several challenges to the Principle of Virtual Transition (PVT), a Pway calculation principle used in the UK and a few other countries to evaluate the viability of not inserting a transition curve in a track alignment.
Using simple and easy to reproduce alignment checks, common-sense logic and well documented research, Constantin will demonstrate that this principle is not providing a Minimum Viable Product solution to track alignment designs. He will also show the method used all around the world as a more viable alternative to this old Permanent Way maths principle of design.

Meeting in person from 12:45 for a 13:00 start for all.

You can also join the meeting virtually through Microsoft Teams.
