Synopsis: The choices that are made at the feasibility stage of a new rail project are often critical to the ultimate success of the project. This presentation discusses the evaluation of potential track alignments for high-speed rail, metro rail and light rail at the feasibility stage of a new rail project. The presentation discusses the factors which influence initial cost, whole life cost and social and environmental benefits and explores how potential sustainability and decarbonisation solutions can become integral in the analysis.
