Great Western Railway’s Class 230 is a fully battery electric multiple unit and has a unique fast charging system which has been developed to provide an innovative solution to decarbonising short branch line railways. The project has taken on several forms but is now fully within it’s means testing stage with a hope to start carrying revenue earning passengers in the first half of 2025!
