Manchester & Liverpool Section hybrid meeting
Every Autumn the UK rail industry suffers from the perennial “Leaves on the line” problem. Train delays and cancellations increase at a time when the passenger numbers tend to be the highest. The media tend to treat this issue as a bit of a joke but it is anything but, as we have seen with the accidents at Salisbury in 2021 and Tallerdig in 2024. The presentation will explain why low adhesion causes problems for the industry, what mitigations are currently implemented and what future technologies maybe implemented.
