Synopsis: The DLR started in the late 1980’s as a fully automated light metro system supporting the re-generation of the Isle of Dogs. Since then, it has extended several times to become one of the top ten busiest railways in the UK. This presentation will describe the history of this growth and the particular infrastructure engineering challenges that come with operating and maintaining this unique system.
