The Northumberland Line Project

12/11/2024 @ 16:30 - 18:00

Roger Glenville, Programme Manager, Network Rail

Lancaster, Barrow & Carlisle Section in-person meeting

The Northumberland Line project is a scheme which has been promoted under the Restoring Your Railways initiative, involving the reintroduction of passenger services between Newcastle and Ashington via Blyth onto an existing freight route serving Lynemouth power station. In his capacity as Programme Manager Roger Glenville will explain how this multi-discipline project has been carried out, including the renewal of plain line track and S&C along the route between Ashington and Northumberland Park, where interchange with the Nexus Metro network will be available, and the construction of six new stations and structures along the route with associated resignalling. A feature of the project has been the engagement with communities along the reconstructed length of route, which will be operated by Northern on opening in December 2024.

Meeting in-person from 16:00 for a 16:30 start.

Transport will be provided from Carlisle Station main entrance at 16:00, returning for 18:00 (approximately) after the meeting courtesy of Network Rail.
