Synopsis: Niall Fagan CEng FICE is an industry renowned permanent way engineer with over 25 years industry experience. His early career provided a firm grounding in track inspection, maintenance and renewals before he progressed into technical leadership roles at Network Rail headquarters. Between January 2012 and September 2019 Niall acted as the Technical Authority for all track engineering managers at HS2, developing their strategy for the track system, most notably the specification of slab track between London and Crewe, a UK first.
In October 2019 Niall re-joined Network Rail where he is currently Head of Engineering for the Capital Delivery Eastern organisation. Niall’s presentation is expected to be both thought provoking and controversial in equal measure, as he draws on his wide experience to challenge our conventional risk averse engineering thinking.
